Plus Pack has won a coveted Scanstar award – and now also a Worldstar - together with Tibon Technology ApS and Danapak Flexibles A/S for the use of Tibon® Technology in the production of some of Plus Pack’s aluminium packaging.

The Scanstar award, announced in Sandefjord, Norway, follows on from another success last year when Plus Pack was the only food packaging company in Scandinavia to be honoured with the distinguished international WorldStar Award for a new grill concept, an enhancement of its VistoPac® plastic range.

Scanstar is an annual award organised by the Scandinavian Packaging Association and for Nordic manufacturers, Scanstar is the only way to participate in the global WorldStar Award competition.
Plus Pack’s entry was one of 19 entered for consideration for this year’s Scanstar contest. The criteria for achieving a Scanstar are strict and recognise the manufacturer for marketing innovative packaging solutions at a very high level. It is the third time that Plus Pack is being honoured with the prestigious Worldstar.

The judges commented: "The packaging is produced by using a patented technology. It can reduce the cooking time significantly and by using less energy compared to similar packaging. It’s a revolutionary green technology. The solution provides quicker and more reliable heating, which is a benefit for the consumer and the food industry. It is also a benefit for the environment because it is based on a less CO2 technology."

The Worldstar 2012 is awarded Plus Pack as one out of 8 Scandinavian food packaging suppliers. There were 243 entries in the contest, 137 are being awarded, of which 45 are within the food category. The award ceremony is being arranged by the World Packaging Organization and takes place in Split, Croatia, primo June 2012.

Tibon® coated aluminium brings innovative solutions to the market, as well as enhancing convenience, productivity and providing time and energy savings. Another big advantage of Tibon® comes with frozen food and ready meals, as the high temperature Tibon® effect jumps over the drying up phase for frozen products and allows the product to go directly from frozen to baked, resulting in a finished product with more taste and visual improvement.

The key benefits of Tibon® patented technology are the increased transmission of heat and the extraordinary ability to retain heat. Tests made by leading food producers show average time savings in heating of up to 30% - offering huge benefits to both manufacturers and consumers.

Jesper Dalgaard, Plus Pack’s Sales Director for Northern Europe, said: "Our full aluminium range can be made in Tibon® and it represents one of the greatest innovations in the category for many years with its increased convenience, time saving and reduction of CO² emissions due to the shorter preparation times required."

The Tibon® technology is sold by Tibon® Technology ApS and production license for Tibon® aluminum foil is given to Danapak Flexibles A/S for Europe.

PlusPack A/S is the preferred vendor of Tibon® trays and lids in Europe.
