In Spring 2023, Plus Pack analysed its relationship with several of our top distribution customers. What do they prioritize when selecting suppliers, and how does Plus Pack measure up?
The interviews that made up the analysis summed up to five key insights, which ultimately led Plus Pack to develop a digital roadmap for the next 2-3 years, prioritising digital initiatives for maximum value and efficiency.
One of the interviews was conducted with a Nordic packaging distributor who provided a comprehensive overview of both the industry and Plus Pack. This perspective ultimately turned out to summarize the general feedback from our interviews.

Transparency is Everything
in successful partnerships
The packaging sector, much like other industries, has been grappling with raw material shortages and associated delivery hiccups for years. The Nordic distributor thus emphasized that a supplier's reliability and proactive communication about delivery timelines are crucial in their assessment.
"It's a mix of proactive communication and forecasting, but it's also about sensing the supplier's commitment to fostering a transparent collaboration and improving delivery efficiency," remarks the distributor's category manager. She praises Plus Pack's internal sales team for consistently demonstrating this transparent and customer-centric dedication, for instance in the case of a delayed order then information comes up front.
"At its core, the equation is simple," the Category Manager notes, "If a supplier fails to deliver, we can't serve our customers, putting our business at risk."
Strategic Forecasting
ensures high delivery efficiency
The Nordic distributor consistently forecasts at both the category and key account levels, sharing these insights with Plus Pack.
"Since we began providing Plus Pack with our forecasting data, which they integrate into their own forecasting platform, their ability to deliver and hence our own delivery efficiency has markedly improved," the Category Manager notes, highlighting plans to refine this collaboration further.
PIM
A game changer
In recent years, the introduction of Product Information Management (PIM) platforms has revolutionized product data handling for many businesses. Not surprisingly, it was therefore one of the digital platforms that Plus Pack subsequently decided to start implementing.
"Accurate product data is vital to us. Therefore, collaborating with PIM-enabled suppliers not only saves us resources but also reduces the risk of errors," says the distributor. And while the category manager looks forward to Plus Pack's launch of its PIM platform in 2024, she highlights the efficient eCatalogue as a testament to the benefits of timely product data.
