Plus Pack Packaging School - a guide

through circularity and legislation

This spring, one of Plus Pack's Danish customers visited Plus Pack's Packaging School to empower their sales and customer service teams with a deeper understanding of circular packaging and its complex world of legislation.

As the green transition gathers momentum, the demands for sustainability and circular packaging are evolving rapidly to shape a better future. Yet, navigating this complex landscape can be a challenge.

In recent years, the EU has continuously introduced new directives and legislation regarding material and waste management. Moreover, as each country can interpret and implement these regulations nationally, no two countries have the same legislation – despite the overarching EU guidelines.

However, when working with circular packaging, the ability to sort fact from fiction is paramount. And this is precisely why Plus Pack has established its Packaging School – an initiative to share facts, knowledge and expertise, equipping customers with insights into circular packaging solutions and the diverse legislations.

Knowledge

is key

The Packaging School is an offer to all customers, where Plus Pack's experts provide guidance regarding recyclability, materials, and CO2 emissions. This enables the participants to make informed decisions about packaging and materials. Additionally, the experts delve deep into the legislation of relevant countries, providing customers with a profound understanding of the specific requirements.

In the spring of 2023, one of Europe's distributors of food packaging solutions, Antalis, seized the opportunity to visit the Packaging School for comprehensive packaging training. They brought together their Danish sales and customer service teams and traveled to Odense for a day dedicated to food packaging.

"Our sales team was very excited about the training. They now feel more capable of guiding our customers, and our customer service staff is well-prepared to respond to inquiries about our products and materials."

An eye-opening

day at school

Among those who had the pleasure of hosting Antalis was Maria M. Schmidt, Marketing Manager in Plus Pack and responsible for the Packaging School. She emphasizes the pleasure in helping customers enhance their know-how and ability to sell circular food packaging: “It supports our aim to build value-creating partnerships and to push for circular food packaging – and here, our school plays a crucial role."

Throughout the day, the sales and customer service teams gained new perspectives on materials. "We were surprised to learn that aluminium is already widely recycled today and that 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use," says Heino Ottesen. He adds that the visit also deepened their understanding of the Extended Producer Responsibility and Denmark's new taxes for 2025 onwards.

"Our visit to Plus Pack has truly been an eye-opener. And we find great comfort in having a competent partner for any questions about circularity and legislative demands in the field of food packaging," concludes Heino Ottesen from Antalis.
