Plus Pack supports with packaging

but also knowledge

Since 2019, Plus Pack has proudly supported Det Kærlige Måltid (The Loving Meal) by providing packaging solutions that help them deliver nutritious meals to families facing life-threatening illnesses.

As dedicated sponsors of this charity organisation, we have not only supplied the necessary packaging but also played an active role in finding new, circular alternatives that meet the needs of both the organisation and recipients.

The move from plastic to aluminium

aluminium supports the SDG goals

Det Kærlige Måltid not only excels in their compassionate charity work but also in their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

After attending a packaging workshop at Plus Pack and learning about the circular benefits of aluminium, they were ready to transition from plastics to aluminium packaging.

The challenge was to find a packaging solution that would reduce CO2 emissions, while still maintaining efficiency and ease of use for both the organisation and recipients. It also needed to support the existing logistics of using cooler bags for meal transportation and include a clear lid option so recipients could easily see their meals.

"It all started at Plus Pack’s Packaging School, where different packaging materials were presented. The session was an eye-opener for us, highlighting why aluminium is a more recyclable solution than plastic and how we could work towards SDG Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production."

91% of the recipients like

the new aluminium container

A key priority in shifting from plastics to aluminium packaging was ensuring that the delivery of nutritious meals remained as delicious and efficient as before. Our rectangular, stackable Ready2Cook® container allowed volunteers to pack and transport meals using their existing cooler bags. Additionally, our clear lid option was vital for Det Kærlige Måltid, enabling recipients to easily see the meal they would be receiving.

Following the implementation, a survey revealed that 91% of recipients found the new aluminium packaging both good and easy to use. Plus Pack’s involvement not only helped reduce the environmental impact of Det Kærlige Måltid’s packaging but also reinforced the charity’s commitment to SDG 12. This case underscores the importance of collaboration in creating solutions that benefit both people and the planet.

WHY IS ALUMINIUM PACKAGING called

THE CHAMPION OF A CIRCULAR ECONOMY?

Aluminium is a valuable material after use and it is recyclable without loss of quality. We call it the champion in a circular economy. Why? Because it fits perfectly into a circular economy, in which waste is seen as a valuable resource and turned into new valuable resources.

Aluminium is the only food packaging material this is recyclable forever, and that is why 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use. Also, when recycling aluminium, you save 95% CO2 compared to using virgin aluminium.
